Elon Musk, the owner of streaming website Twitter, has confirmed that the platform will soon feature audio and video calls.
This will be the first time that Twitter will offer a feature similar to Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat and WhatsApp.
Twitter hasn't offered an audio or video call feature for the past decade and a half, but after Elon Musk bought it, several changes were announced.
It was initially reported in May 2023 that Twitter will introduce video and audio calling features and now Elon Musk has confirmed it.
Elon Musk said in his short tweet that the feature of audio and video calls will be offered on Twitter soon.
He wrote that at the same time, the above feature will be presented on the web version along with the application, that is, people using Twitter on laptops and computers, including Android and iOS users, will also be able to make video and audio calls.
However, users using computers and laptops in addition to mobiles will need other devices including headphones to use the above feature.
Elon Musk also confirmed that the audio and video calling feature will not require a mobile number, meaning the feature will work exactly like Facebook Messenger's audio and video calling feature.
Apart from the mentioned feature, there is a possibility of introducing a payment feature on Twitter in the future, but it is not clear how long the payment feature will be offered on Twitter.
It is likely to take more than a year to roll out the payment feature.
Since Elon Musk took over Twitter in October 2022, the platform has undergone many changes and more changes have been announced.
Elon Musk bought Twitter for about $45 billion, after which he ended the feature of providing free blue ticks to verified accounts and started providing it for a monthly fee.
